About Us
I bought my 1st BSH in 1989 and visited cat shows to see more of the pedigree cats i had fallen in love with. I showed a pet neuter to start with but soon became interested in breeding. I bought a blue-cream from the then famous Hunkable prefix and then Coppins cats. I started breeding pedigree cats in 1990 under the guidance of the late Jill Howe and Sue kempster of the Susian prefix and met Jan Bradley of Sheephouse.
I was taught to breed "properly" looking at pedigrees and various studs for a number of years before buying my own stud. I always preferred the cream colours and later went into Bi-Colours as I adore the cream&white...as you will see demonstrated in my web site! www.loraston.com
I am quite particular where my cats go and will not let a "single" kitten to people who work all day as its not fair on the kitten, in my opinion. I also do not let kittens go for "just one litter" as I don't personally believe this is right for the cat. It puts us breeders in a difficult position of putting a kitten on the active register we would otherwise put on the non-active. This means a kitten can or cannot register litters when its bred from with the GCCF. Breeders, in my opinion, have to be responsible and err on the side of caution if the breed is to be improved.
I breed to improve the standard British cat in my favourite colours.
Our aim for Loraston pet products to to focus on cat products we actually USE and have used successfuly and not to just sell anything that you can find on most e commerce sites. Our aim is to supply larger sizes to keep costs down as we buy those ourselves. We cannot guarantee of course that everything we use will be right for you and your cats, however in since 1990 I have fed Purina Proplan, since 1995 and also Techni-Cal back then too. I have fed James Wellbeloved and Royal Canin in more recent year from between 6-8 years ago. I have used wood based and paper based cat litters since 1990. I use vitamins for my cats, especially breeding cats to maintain tip top health. I also feed raw meat, usually rabbit. I feed cooked chicken too.
